What should you watch for in leases, deposits, insurance, and paperwork?

Draft copy — final content comes from the CMS

Why this matters

Every clause you sign without understanding can later become a lost deposit, an endless penalty, or a deadline you cannot undo. Reading contracts and paperwork properly is the cheapest protection you will ever get.

Situations you will actually meet

Your landlord keeps the whole deposit at move-out — and the contract gives you nothing to push back with.

An official-looking notice arrives. You cannot tell whether it is real, or a scam, or urgent.

You get sick and only then discover you have no idea what your insurance actually covers.

Common mistakes & risks

Signing before the deposit, repair responsibilities, and early-termination terms are written into the contract.

Photographing documents once, never backing them up, then losing the original when it matters.

Keeping deadlines in your head — and finding out too late that some cannot be fixed.
